Melissa L. Melzer, LCPC - Founder & Owner

Many people have a history of trauma. Trauma is unique to the individual and their life experiences. In therapy, acknowledging and processing one's trauma can lead to growth, healing, and a better understanding of one's personal strengths.

My work is rooted in cultural sensitivity, LGBTQ+ affirmation, and a deep respect for each client’s unique story. I believe that acknowledging and processing trauma can unlock growth, healing, and a deeper connection to personal strengths.

My style is warm, collaborative, and directive. I work from a solution-focused lens, integrating CBT, DBT, and other trauma-informed approaches to support lasting change. My experience is varied, including clients who are struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and grief.

My experience includes supporting adults facing trauma, sexual violence, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, and life transitions in a university counseling center, community mental health outpatient clinic, rape crisis center, and group practice settings.

My integrative approach supports emotional, physical, and mental health, incorporating Solution-Focused Therapy, CBT, DBT, and Written Exposure Therapy for PTSD.

“I build therapeutic relationships through direct communication — and humor.

Therapy can include laughter.”
